I'm a programmer and former no-name science fiction writer from Reno, Nevada. After a short stint in the Navy as a weapon's mechanic, I started up school in the Computer Science field (for programming), and fell in love with the career path.
As a first year student, I became fairly ambitious with personal projects and assignments and came up with my first Java game as an assignment that sort of opened a door to the game development side of programming. You can check the game out for yourself - apollo.occc.edu/chensp10grp7/MyProject.html (click on "John Rubin's "Jump, Spider!")
After my gateway achievement, I started another project in Lua for the hit game, "World of Warcraft" - I had come across a gem of a project another individual (Aliased "Zork") had created, loved it, but decided to scale it down a bit and make it more available to users that wanted their layouts to look just the way they wanted. After a quick email requesting permission to redistribute the addon with my modifications, I got to work. The concept was simple, basically transforming the "health" and "mana" bars of the game into Diablo Style orbs with varying color options and size orientations. The project is available for download at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/ouf_d3orbs.aspx?CommentPage=3.
After that, it was pretty hardcore school-only type stuff, until I finally decided to start working on games for the iPhone. And the journey began.
Otherwise, I live in Oklahoma with my beautiful wife, two dogs, and noisy cat. I love to fix stuff (and that's pretty general because the range of things I like to fix is also pretty general) and am an off-and-on gamer.
